Frieda Brides Bespoke
The bespoke gown is ideal for brides who seek a truly unique piece that speaks them in a way no readily available gown does. Under the close guidance of our bespoke designer, you will be meticulously measured, fitted and styled.
Using our rich inventory of gowns as a reference point to discuss cut, fabric and embellishment, our designer will condense all your favourite elements into a design that our team can make a reality.
The Design Process
To begin the bespoke process, get in touch with our team to make a private appointment on the ‘Contact Us’ page. Let us know about your desire to make a bespoke dress, with any relevant references you have.
During your first appointment, you will be led through a comprehensive try-on session of our gowns by our designer, Ying. She will guide you closely through the many options available, helping you narrow down the best cuts for your figure and taking into account the various design elements from our sample dresses which speak to you the most. At the end of the appointment, several bespoke sketches will be made for you.
Once you are confident you wish to proceed with the bespoke process, Ying will source relevant fabrics, laces or embellishments to present to you at a follow-up appointment. Suggestions will be made to provide you with the best fit and balance of design elements. A design may be selected by you at this stage, after which a 50% deposit will then be required to begin work on your dress.
Over the course of 5-7 months, the first toile of your gown will be created and fitted to your body across several fitting sessions, each a few weeks to a month apart. During this stage, minor modifications to the design can still be made.
At the final appointment, we will place all elements together for a final look (gown, veil, accessories, shoes etc.) and you will then take your gown home, ready for the big day.

The Designer
With over 10 years of experience in dressmaking following an education in Textile Design at the prominent Central Saint Martins (alma mater of Alexander McQueen, Phoebe Philo and John Galliano) and Chelsea College of Arts London, Ying (also known as Kiara) has an unending love affair with bridal wear that has burned strong for a decade.
She cut her teeth working for a bespoke and bridal alterations company in London, where she worked first hand on gowns made by renowned international designers Vera Wang, Galia Lahav, Laure de Sagazan, Halfpenny London, Paolo Sebastian and many more. During her tenure there, she headed the bespoke team and spent most of her free time designing and honing her dressmaking skills.
In her chase to understand the highest levels of fashion and dressmaking, Ying has also spent time working in the teams running Phillipa Lepley, CELINE and Grace Lane London, who have dressed the likes of royalty and Hollywood celebrities. Her hobbies include reading fashion history books, collecting images of unusual flora and enjoying cocktails made by her partner.
Bearing a rich knowledge of bridal history and a desire to open up the Singaporean bridal scene to more radical notions of bridal wear, Ying’s repertoire of inspiration spans across a myriad of bridal styles from Victorian corsetry to nymph-like surrealism, 90’s grunge and modern day minimalism.
She is proudly a full-time designer for Frieda Brides.
